Scrap material setting gauge

Cutting off material with the power hacksaw

When doing repetitive jobs on the lathe it is helpful to have a way to easily measure and preset the length of material protruding from the chuck. This gauge assists in doing just that and is made from a length of printer rod and some brass from the scrap material drawer at the Hackspace.

A ruler will do the job, but this is fancier!

Facing the brass in the lathe, held in a collet

Brass parted off and test fitted to rod
